Douglas E. Merz

Douglas Merz studied at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln before going on to earn a law degree from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. He was admitted to the Nebraska Law and the U.S. District Court in the District of Nebraska in 1975. A long time defender of employee rights, Merz’s areas of practice include probate and estate planning, real estate, agricultural, personal injury, and worker’s compensation. 

Merz has been a practicing lawyer for more than 38 years, and during that time his dedication to his clients and to upholding the highest legal standards have earned him a rating of “Very High” on the Criteria of General Ethical Standards. Further, by earning high marks for ethics, Merz has also differentiated himself by receiving BV Distinguished honors through peer review, scoring a 4.4 out of 5.

Samantha K. Scheitel

Samantha Scheitel studied at Nebraska Wesleyan University before going on to earn a law degree from the University of Nebraska College of Law in Lincoln. Scheitel is the newest member of the Weaver & Merz team. She was admitted to the Nebraska Bar and the U.S. District Court in the District of Nebraska in 2017.

Scheitel has deep ties to the Falls City area that allow her to serve the community well. Her family as well as her husband and his family grew up here and continue to be active members of the community.
